Dionaea muscipula ‘Bloody Nurse’ is a distinctive Venus Flytrap clone valued for its rich trap colour, compact growth, and striking seasonal appearance.

This clone typically produces medium to large traps, with some showing a gently cupped or conical form during active growth. Trap shape and overall size can vary between individual traps and across the growing season.

Colour & Appearance

‘Bloody Nurse’ is renowned for its intense red pigmentation. Under strong light the trap interiors develop rich crimson to burgundy tones, with many plants displaying their deepest colour during winter dormancy. The contrast between the vivid red traps and green outer margins makes this one of the more eye-catching coloured clones throughout the cooler months.

Winter Dormancy

These plants are currently in their natural winter dormancy. During this period they may have fewer active traps, shorter leaves, and some older traps may blacken and die back. This is a normal and essential part of the Venus Flytrap's annual growth cycle. Each plant has a healthy rhizome and will resume vigorous growth as temperatures warm in spring.

Growth Notes

As with all Venus Flytraps, trap size, shape, and colour expression improve with maturity and strong light. Seasonal variation is expected, with winter plants often displaying their richest trap colour despite their more compact growth.
